It is very important that when taking an anti-depressant medication, you must know what are the consequences or side effects of taking it in without proper consultation from a doctor. Although, some fluoxetine side effects are mild some of them can be life-threatening if you are not careful.

With regard to discontinuance syndrome, this is a mild and uncommon side effect. This is probably due to the fact that long shelf half-life of fluoxetine. However as to suicidal behavior, this is rampant for persons whose ages are below 25.

The fluoxetine side effects enumerated in #3 and #4 are somewhat similar to Citalopram side effects and Metformin side effects. This simply means that anti-depressant medications do have similar side effects. Although, they may vary on some but more or less they have the same adverse effects on humans.

Bottom line, it would be best to seek help from a doctor as to whether or not it is healthy to take fluoxetine even though there is a likelihood that sexual dysfunction, suicidal behavior and discontinuation syndrome might occur. Take note, your depression might be treated but if it does lead to further health complications and problem, it would be best to go seek for a better anti-depressant medication or alternative. Having to face embarrassment due to fluoxetine side effects is not going to be on top of the list of people who are in treatment or medication for depression.
